What got you into the loose skin predicament are your two mistakes. Getting obese and thinking that the extreme opposite is the answer: hasty weight loss. If you’re still on that trip, STOP! You’re causing further harm! Years ago without having the proper knowledge I went this route too, it’s a mistake. Extreme weight loss usually entails crash dieting and extreme cardio. You end up a smaller version of your old self but more than likely remain fat with little to no lean muscle mass. I am not trying to sound condescending or discouraging but hear what I have to say.

First and foremost don’t stress or feel bad; be GRATEFUL to Allah (swt). Although it may seem demoralizing at first AGAIN be GRATEFUL to Allah (swt). There are so many blessing that we have that something as trivial shouldn’t bring us down. There are starving children out there, your abs not showing or appearing chiseled is not the end of the world; there’s still hope for success. Stop yourself from making further mistakes by doing your best to undo them.

I’ve made DRASTIC changes without any surgeries going from a 56″ waist to my current 33″ waist. Improving your skin elasticity and quality depends on how long your skin has been this way, your age, growth hormone levels and genetics. People don’t like the words ‘it takes time’, but time is the biggest factor in this, have sabr!

Build muscle and lose fat

I open with this: quality results take time and muscles don’t grow quick over night. What ultimately gives our bodies shape are the muscles we have. The lack of fat only reveals what we already have. This concept is what you need to sticky in your mind, this will be the number one key to your success. Everything I discuss after this will be secondary and merely an option or potential aid along the way.

Obesity causes hormonal and metabolic chaos in our bodies. The body out of control creates and stores fat pockets stretching skin beyond natural capacity resulting in deformity. As you start reversing this, you have to fight these abnormally created fat pockets which takes time. Combine this with the fact that you more than likely didn’t have or lost a ton of lean muscle mass from crash dieting and we don’t have a good starting combination.

The only real way to lose any fat is to keep losing more fat. You may become lean in one place, but still remain fat in another place. The body likes to pick the fat it wants to lose first not the places you want it to lose first. The answer however is not to lose more weight, the answer is to start focusing on building lean muscle mass and getting stronger. Changing your body composition is the key, don’t pay attention to the scale as an indicator of success! This is the proper way to undo your mistakes.

What it truly comes down to in the long run is this: if you can legitimately get bellow 10% body fat into single digits and build quality lean muscle mass, your skin WILL tighten and with time WILL tighten even more.

You will achieve far more qualitative results and what still remains if you so chose still to have surgery will end up only a mini tummy tuck, resulting in a small lower abdominal scar that your under garments will perfectly hide away avoiding Frankenstein results.

Surgery

A quick Google of tummy tuck surgeries will reveal that people who are lazy and rush into this end up with deformities and grotesque Frankenstein like scars going all the way around. You don’t want that. If you are patient you can do things which will drastically improve the results or you will end up not needing surgery at all by reversing the damage. My own progress has been as such that I used to have loose skin going all the way around like a tire. Currently it’s only on my lower abdomen and my sides are tight; I am still not going the surgery route as I am still improving and have yet to hit sub 10% body fat. If you are patient and do what I suggest you will improve your skin condition dramatically.

The amount of time it will take for results to show depends on severity, depends on your dedication and you guessed it diet and exercise. Will you get results within a month, 3 months, 3 years. You never know, but you have to be CONSISTENT!

Water

Starting with the basics, yes, drinking water. If you’re not drinking enough water start from today. As someone who exercises you should consume at least one gallon or roughly 4 liters of water a day. Water helps replenish skin and maintain it’s elasticity.

Sleep

Lack of sleep will result in cortisol build up — the stress hormone, which also causes our blood sugar to rise, which compromises collagen leading to wrinkles and acne. Hormonal surges such as this can also induce a rise in skin dryness. For more reasons than one, get adequate quality sleep. At least 7 hours, ideally 9 hours.

Anti-Oxidants

 

Anti-Oxidants cleanse your body of free-radicals and revitalize your skin by allowing nutrients to effectively reach your skin. You’ll look healthier, younger and radiant while improving your skin’s elasticity.

Vitamin A plays a significant role in skin health and collagen synthesis, Vitamin C also plays a big role in collagen synthesis. Vitamin E and Alpha Lipoic Acid play are powerful Anti-Oxidants. All four combined are the most cost and result effective anti-oxidants.

Natural sources include: Grapefruit, Cranberries, Kiwi, Blackberries, Blueberries, Strawberries, Raspberries, & Acai Berries.

Supplements: R-Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Coenzyme Q10

What I use daily includes:

  • 2-5g Vitamin C which I take usually pre workout, post workout, before bed and upon waking.
  • 10000iu Vitamin A before bed. Do not exceed this dose as it’s the upper limit of toxicity for a male.
  • 800iu Vitamin E split before bed and post workout. Do not exceed this dose as it’s the upper limit of toxicity.
  • 100mg R-ALA before or with meals.

Always of course consult a doctor.

Fasting

In everything Allah (swt) has prescribed for us, there is benefit. Believe it or not, yes fasting is the best way to release a lot of Growth Hormone in the absence of insulin/sugar. Fasting every few days is a great way to increase your insulin sensitivity as well as cause GH release! My skin always looks better during ramadan mashAllah! Simple and effective.

Retinol/Tretinoin/Retin-A and moisturizing creams

Retinoic acid is a concentrated acidic form of Vitamin A. It comes in cream and gel application in progressive concentrations of 0.02%, 0.025%, 0.0

4%, 0.05%, 0.1%. Speak with your family doctor and dermatologist who can prescribe you this. This is mainly used for acne however it is also used for a variety of skin conditions

and will over a period of continuous use result in newer skin. It will peel old skin and cause collagen synthesis resulting in new healthier and tighter skin.

Be mindful that it can dry your skin out, so if you apply at night, in the morning a pply a moisturizing cream.

HGH and GHRP/GHRH peptides

As teenagers our pituitary glands release growth hormone in large quantities, as it’s name implies it is responsible for our growth. As we get older GH declines but still remains a very important hormone to our health and bodies, but what interests us is it’s powerful effect on collagen synthesis.

HGH is the synthetic form of growth hormone taken via subcutaneous injections once a day. It is costly and prescription only but in certain Muslim countries such as Egypt it is available over the counter. Traveling with it is not recommended as every country has a different laws and can get you in trouble. HGH is prescribed to children who have a deficiency of this hormone and stalled

growth. It is also being prescribed lately for anti-aging to adults. It is heavily used by bodybuilders but that’s beyond the scope of this article. No it is not a steroid but the US government groups it together with steroids; politics not science. If you’re wondering why Sylvester Stallone looks as ‘young and fit’ as he does at 66 years of age, you’ve got your first hint; not that it replaces his hard work and dedication. It’s touted as the ‘youth hormone’ for good reasons.

 

I’ve been on 3-4iu of HGH for three months a year ago and it helped repair my knee strain that impaired me from sitting in prayer; no doctor could even figure out or find out the cause. The healing of my knee was worth every penny. The immediate effects I experienced: Incredibly restful sleep and my skin looked vibrant and youthful. However it takes a very long time to elicit it’s long term benefits and effects. It is normally run 6 months to 1 year to bring about visible skin tightening changes and all the other benefits.

There is also another class of medications called GHRP (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptides) and GHRH (Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone) which if used standalone or together will induce your own pituitary gland to release your own endogenous GH. Unlike HGH these peptides have a very short half life and therefore have to be injected subcutaneously multiple times a day. Natural GH is largely released in the absence of insulin/sugar and while you sleep, therefore this medication best works in a fasted state, on an empty stomach or at least an hour after a meal where sugar subsides. These medications however have been abandoned by pharmaceuticals and are obtainable synthesized as ‘research chemicals’, however they are still the synthesized medication. Far more affordable than HGH but a nuisance to take multiple times a day. The one GHRH that has been approved as a medication is sermorelin; it is weaker but works in the same way. If you can find a doctor to prescribe you this great!

I have been using a combination of 100mcg to 200mcg of GHRP2/Ipamorelin and 100mcg of MOD-GRF (1-29). GHRP2 and Ipamorelin are GHRPs and MOD-GRF is the GHRH. GHRP2 is stronger than ipamorelin, while it raises cortisol and prolactin slightly, but ipamorelin has no side effects. Cortisol can be counter acted with vitamin c and prolactin with l-dopa/p5p supplementation. This is an effective and affordable alternative to HGH that many bodybuilders use now a days. The combination has been a contributing factor to my skin quality improving and me getting restful sleep. Like HGH they take a very very long time to work so it has to be continuous use.

Lastly as far as supplements that are marketed at boosting GH: waste of money, so I won’t even bother mentioning them.

Preparation H PE

Hemorrhoid creams tighten the skin by sucking out all the subcutaneous water leaving your skin tighter. You’d be surprised how commonly it is used by bodybuilders and females. It’s not a permanent fix, but it will ultimately help some by not allowing your skin to over stretch and instead be tighter to your body.

When buying Preperation H PE make sure you buy the ‘cooling gel’ not the ointment. Ointment contains shark oil which smells like dead fish while the cooling gel has a bearable mint smell.

By all means Preperation H PE should NOT be used every day maybe once a week or at one point of the month for a few days. It has it’s share of side effects although you may not notice them.

There’s a few ways to use it:

  • Applied while doing cardio it’s also common to wear saran wrap — yes.. saran wrap. Although not necessary it will help you sweat out subq water faster.
  • Sleep at night with it applied. Again with or without saran wrap although it will feel uncomfortable sleeping with saran wrap. You’ll break out a sweat and probably need to change cloths so be ready to have extra cloths on hand.
  • Apply it while tanning but do not apply tanning lotions unless you want to be a barbecued lobster and absolutely DO NOT saran wrap yourself while tanning. Yes some people do that, I tell you don’t, be warned.

Tanning

Although probably more popular with our ‘fair skinned’ brothers and sisters, tanning actually stimulates the skin and lightly helps tighten the skin over time. It also gets rid of excess subcutaneous water weight which will leave you looking leaner.

Tanning beds are more effective to get quicker results, but be warned tanning beds have their potential risks. Make sure to consume Anti-Oxidants and use hydrating lotions as much as you can. Educate yourself about tanning before you embark on trying it.

Conclusion

If you are on that crazy extreme weight lost tip, I sure hope you will stop that right now and reconsider. I want you to leave knowing that it takes time to get quality results. Concentrate on getting stronger, building muscle and changing you body composition over time. I emphasize after this drinking adequate water, taking anti-oxidants and fasting as a natural addition to your goals. With medications always consult your doctor; Retinol, HGH and GHRP/GHRH they are a huge help but you may be unable to or chose not to use them. I opened up talking about surgery only as a wake up call as people tend to want fast results and it just leaves them disappointed. Undoing all the damage as best as you can with time will give a better outcome regardless of surgery or no surgery.
